The prevalence of handheld devices such as smartphones and tables are gaining popularity at the fastest rate of any devices pursued by the marketplace. As such, company data is being incorporated onto these devices and becoming an essential element of the company IT structure. This makes data protection for handheld devices a priority for all organizations.
Today, with most backup products, data protection for Tablets and SmartPhones is a multi-step process, requiring the devices to be synched up with laptop or desktop and that laptop or desktop is backed up by corporate IT in the middle of the night. When the employee is traveling, sometimes it could be days or weeks before their data is protected.
Now YottaMobil, Powered by Asigra, collects data from the smart phone or the tablet and sends this data directly to the offsite data centers. It’s a completely automated process with built-in data reduction techniques such as block-level de-duplication and compression.
Features of YottaMobil include:
- Backups automatically take place during the backup windows (typically in the middle of the night). If the user has made a lot of important changes and cannot wait until the normal data backup scheduled time, they click on “Backup Now” button within the GUI and the backups will take place immediately.
- Self-management – mobile users backup and restore their own data anytime, anywhere.
- For the Apple iOS, the app can be downloaded from Apple App Store.
- For Google Android, the app can be downloaded from Android Market or Amazon Appstore.
